- Welcome to the first preview of ** ART OF NOISE **.
-
- What the heck is AON ? I bet you already might have noticed,
-
- that this program is a kind of music tracker. But it is not
-
- yet ANOTHER tracker (like the 1001 protracker clones out there)
-
- but a real NEW tracker, of course completely new coded (no
-
- protracker source used!!). I tried to improve the old protracker
-
- format (which is surely antiquated already since ages..) and to
-
- create a new tracker, which should be the DREAM TRACKER for all
-
- amiga musicians.. (and all who want to become one ;)). I think
-
- I should give you a short summary of the new possibilities that
-
- AON offers you:
-
- - OS2.0 look! no hardware hacking like in protracker
- - Reqtools filerequesters
- - CPU or copper viewmode split (for pattern-display)
- (cpu needs more rasttime, but is more system-friendly)
-
- - More instruments!! (up to 61!!) (1-9,a-z,A-Z)
-
- - More patterns (up to 128) (if you demand more, just
- tell me!)
-
- - More song-sequences (Song-Length now up to 256)
- - Restart-Position <>0 possible
- - nice sequence-list editor
- - new songlist-edit short cuts
-
- - More player-commands !! (increased to max. 62, 46 are already
- in use!)
- - Arpeggio (up to 16) + Any other effect possible
- each arpeggio can have up to 7 partnotes, arpeggio
- speed is of course changeable
- - wavetable-commands
- - syndrums-commands
- - new effects like vibrato&volume set/slide etc..
- - external program SYNCHRONISATION commands (demos/games
- and other presentations (easy to use for e.g. multimedia
- productions, which shall be timed with the soundtrack)
- - 8 channel control commands
-
- - More notes ;) !!! Highest note is now B-5 !!
-
- - Maximal instrument play-length up to 256k, waveform size
- only limited to free memory!!
-
- - Cool new sampler with lots of new effects (digital filter,
- flanger/phase distortion/hi&lopass filters/noise limiter etc..
-
- - REAL 8 CHANNEL-MODE, *ALL* effects are usable on splitted
- channels, that includes loops as well as FULL VOLUME&PITCH
- control !!!
- - 2 8Channel-modi (hq & fixed rate mix)
- - mixe-rate up to 64khz!!!
-
- - Wavetable-Instruments !! ('synthetic' mode)
- - SAVES really A LOT OF MEMORY
- - no disturbing white noise, just crystal clear sound !!
- - Full ADSR control
-
- - Instrument&Waveform are seperated, so that e.g. 10 instruments
- can use the same waveform (very useful!)
- - saves memory
- - create new sound-fx by using different instruments
- which still use the same waveform!!
-
- - FM-Synthesizer
- - demo version: 2 operators only (but still nice)
- - full version: up to 12 operators with complex
- combinations by using a..
- - FM-programming language !(but still easy to use..)
-
- - drumsequencer
- - create your own drumlines with up to 16 tracks
- - mixed in 16bit for optimal quality !
- - selectable pitch & sequence-length
-
- - Song-Remark can be detached to every song-module
- - up to 32k (even for small novels ;) )
-
- - Instrument names now up to 32 chars
- - easy instrument-selecting from the pull-down menu
- (just click on the name !) or press amiga+(instr.nr)
-
- - Disable not-needed-song-info saving (like remark/instrument
- names etc..
- - saves memory (about 3-36k)
-
- - Protracker-(load format)-compatibility, all key-shortcuts
- in AON are just the same as in protracker (+ ofcourse a lot
- of new shortcuts)
-
- - module-crunch
- - powerpacker
- - STONECRACKER (the best (fastest+most efficient)
- cruncher around!)
-
- - memory usage e.g. for patterns is the same as in protracker,
- although there are many many new improvements !!
-
- - many new pattern-edit commands !
- - exchange tracks/patterns
- - change volume
- - wildstar-replace (like in any texteditor!!!!)
-
- - player is easy to include in own productions (saves player+mod
- files and executables )
-
- - for the interested guys: The fileformat is MUCH better than
- protracker (well, it wasn't so hard to improve THAT format ;))
- - Chunk-format (like e.g. IFF)
- - easy to expand (future versions...)
-
- There are is also a huge amount of more detail-improvemements, which
-
- are nevertheless very useful when composing music. Just load the
-
- preview and check it...
-
-
- When is the full version going to be released ?!
-
- Well, I've been asked too many times, but the program is nearly finished
-
- (you have to know that I've been working on this project since nearly
-
- 1½ years (yewp..) ) but I think it will be out in a few months.
-
- So, please, if you like this program (I'm sure you do ;)) , please
-
- consider BUYING THE ORIGINAL. It will not ruin you to spend a little
-
- bit money for a program, you will use quite frequently !!
-
- As I already have told you, I've been working pretty long (and hard..)
-
- on this program, and I spent a lot of my spare-time (I still go to
-
- school), so please better think twice (hehe) before copying this
-
- program !!!! The price won't be that high anyway (I can't tell you at
-
- the moment (but it will be for sure much cheaper than e.g. octamed!)
-
- And don't forget, that you will get a (ofcourse printed..) manual
-
- including some workshops for e.g. the drumsequencer/fm-synthesizer
-
- /sampler etc !!
-
-
-
- ####- If you have any suggestions, how to improve this program, or just
- any questions, don't hesitate to contact me at once!!

- ---------------------------------------------------------------------
- now some small instructions how to use this preview:
-
- Load a demo-mod:
- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
- Select 'Load Module' from 'project' pull-down menu.
- The module will then be loaded (if enough memory is
- available). If the module is crunched, either by
- 'powerpacker' (.pp) or 'stonecracker' (.stc), it will
- be decrunched first (using powerpacker.library or
- in case of a stc-mod an internal turbo-stonecracker
- decruncher will be used).
-
- Load a demo-instrument:
- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
- First, invoke the «instrument-editor» (e.g. from the
- 'environment' pull-down menu). Then click on
- 'Load instrument' (left bottom corner). Then you can
- select if you either want to overwrite the waveform,
- that the old instrument used or you can have AON allocate
- a new waveform for you. Just try it out...
-
- Load a demo-drum-sequence:
- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
- First, invoke the «drum-sequencer» (e.g. from the
- 'environment' pull-down menu). Then click on
- 'Load Seq.'. After that, you have to decide, to which
- waveform the drumsequence shall be computed to.
- To do so, click on the 'To wave' gadget and enter your
- desired wave-number (0-63). Note that some waves have
- already been allocated (look at the numbers beside the
- 16 'wave' gadgets !!). You musn't select these waves
- as destination waves, or you will get trouble (in the
- worst case, you will hear nothing). So, if you e.g.
- select wave 40 as destination wave, you can be quite
- sure, that this wave is still unused !
- Ok, I assume that you computed the sequence (click
- on 'compute'). You will be asked, if you want to 'adjust
- wavelens?'. Please select 'No', because you surely haven't
- got an instrument prepared, that uses the destination
- wave... So, you gotta do that first:
-
- How to create an instrument ?
-
- Enter the «instrument-editor». Then, select your
- destination wave-nr. with the slider gadget ('wave').
- E.g. your destination wave was 40, just set the 'wave'
- slider to 40. Then click on the «sample-len» gadget and
- enter '-1'. The sample-length will be set to the maximal
- length, the current waveform allows..
- Then enter your desired instrument-volume with the
- 'volume-slider' (max=64). Now you should be able
- to play the instrument.. Just use the keyboard
- ('y'=C' ; ','=C'' ; 'q'=C'' ; 'i'=C''' to toggle the
- octave, use Shift-F1 (deepest) , F1 (middle) and F2
- (highest))
-
- Load a demo-fm-sound:
- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
- Enter the «fmsynth». Then click on 'load instrument'.
- After that, select your desired destination wave (click
- on 'destwave' gadget and enter wave-number (0-63).
- Then follow the instructions how to create an instrument
- given above..
-
-
- By loading the demo-modules that come along with this preview, you
- can check out many of the new functions (and player-commands) by
- looking e.g. at the module's instruments/patterns...
